The Cruiser is developed by ET-Air, Norut and Dr. H. Quabeck. Dr. Quabeck is responsible for the aerodynamic design. The wing section used is very efficient and require very little power to maintain cruise speed. The plane was designed by using CAD programs and parts was CNC milled to create the positives for making the moulds.
The Cruiser is built in negative moulds and can be made in different layups depending on customers needs. The standard version is made mostly of glass fibre and Herex. Only the wing joiner is made in carbon. This version gives excellent strength but the weight is higher than a version made of carbon fibre.
We have plans for testing electric and jet versions of the Cruiser. Our first goal is to get 2 hours endurance for the electric version. For the jet version we estimate a speed of 250km/h + and a 10 liter fuel tank.
The platform can be used for a range of missions. Look here for further info about mission types. The UAV will primarily be launched by pneumatic launcher made by Horpestad AS (www.oktnorge.no) but it can also be equipped with wheels or dolly (small wagon that releases just after takeoff)
This UAV will be sold as a platform (the plane) only, it means you can have a ready to fly "RC-model" which you can turn into an UAV by installing either your own control system or "off the shelf" equipment from a third party vendor. This platform can be adapted to fit many different engines all depending on your needs. ET-Air Slovakia S.R.O. will also offer ready systems by using "off the shelf" equipment.
First flight was done 15th. of June 2007 at a grass air strip in southwest, Norway. The total weight on first flight was 19 kg. The UAV was powered by a four stroke Moki gasoline 50cc motor (3,5 HP)
